About the SHOPRITE series:

I was inspired by the colorfully garbed parade of women marching through the aisles of the store, families in tow, armed with shopping carts. Faces of cashiers and customers at Shoprite are depicted in the series. Women of all walks are drawn together for the common purpose of hunting food for their families in this packed world of Shoprite, where vendors with carts bearing breads and flowers roam the aisles, calling out their wares for sale, as in any foreign outdoor market. I live in Brooklyn, an urban village of the world, where different ethnic communities live side by side. Shoprite represents Brooklyn, a place filled with people from all over the world, like a mini U.N.
